PlayStation 3

I got myself a brand new PlayStation 3 today, along with MotorStorm and F1 Championship Edition. :D

I actually sold my HTPC as, tbh, I wasn’t using it for much except for watching the occasional TV show and movie.

It’s actually pretty good, the interface is really smooth and, to be honest, it feels easier to use then the Xbox 360. I’d also say that I prefer the interface of the PlayStation Store to the Xbox Live Marketplace, however, there are like 50 items total. Xbox Live Marketplace has HUNDREDS of downloadable demos, videos, and more. The PS Store is just…well….empty. You can probably download the entire contents of the store in about a day with a fast connection, whereas you’d need about a week for the Xbox one.

Otherwise, I’ve not played any of the games much yet, but so far they look great. Motorstorm is great fun.

I’m hoping to expand my collection soon with a few extra games like DiRT, Need for Speed ProStreet, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, and Ridge Racer 7.

On a side note, wtf. There’s an option in the settings to configure a printer. Yes, a printer. On a games console? Now that is cool. :D

  • I don’t want to say this, but…

Rasterbate. You should. No, I’m deadly serious. It’s nothing perverted, you basically give it an image and it turns it into a massive poster-like image made of little dots, which you can then print out and use a whole tree to make your wall look nice.

Only problem is, I have no printer, so I need to see if dad will borrow his work printer to do it for me. I did one of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, and it looks quite good so far. I’ll wait and see how good the final printed one is.

(Thanks to Daniel for pointing it out.)

  • Andrew Hansen

Andrew Hansen is a legend. I just watched the Chaser’s War On Everything from tonight (S02E20, aired today, 17th October), and the song (entitled “Eulogy Song”) is just….it’s highly offensive to many people, but it’s still fantastic that they actually get away with the stuff the Chaser guys do. :o

I’ve uploaded the clip to YouTube, have a look: click here.

That show, and Andrew’s songs, are quite possibly the best entertainment on television ever. Period.

  • BluRay!

I FINALLY HAVE A BLURAY PLAYER!

K, so, it’s not an actually player, but simply a Pioneer BluRay reader in my HTPC, but still, I finally got it. So now I have a BluRay drive, but no BD movies. LOL. I’m gonna go into HMV and pick something up tomorrow, and I’m also considering selling and buying BluRay copies of all the DVDs I already have, except that would be expensive, so I might not. Still…it’s a start. ;)

I’m also going to probably go and see The Kingdom at the cinema tomorrow night - it’s on at 8:15pm and it looks pretty interesting, especially considering Jamie Foxx is in it and the previous movies I’ve seen with him are quite good. :)

Quick Update: Stupid crappy CyberLink software. Whenever I ran it on the HTPC, it crashed. I had to do a hard reboot. So I’ve swapped it to my main PC but I have to use AnyDVD HD to watch movies, due to the damn HDCP rubbish (monitor not compatible). Great. I think I’ll just get dad to get a proper standalone BD player. They’re easier.

  • FilePlanet Really Sucks

Someone sent me the link to get the public Crysis beta last night. So I signed up, got sent a key, and then it says I must download “Crysis_MP_Beta_Release_3.exe”, which I can find at FilePlanet. Right, so, I login, wait in the queue for 34 minutes (I wanted to go to bed, but I want Crysis more), then hit start. Then I went to bed. Today, I wake up to find it’s stuck on 1001.2MB. Fantastic. So this is what I paused all my seeding and waited 34 minutes for? No thanks. I guess I’ll have to wait a bit longer though, as I’m doing it via a torrent. FilePlanet should do that. Release all their programs on torrents (as well as the website for premium users). At least it would be faster.
