That Dell 2407WFP-HC that I ordered last month actually wasn’t a 2407WFP-HC. It was the older 2407WFP revision A04 model, which is the one before the “-HC”, which has more colour then the one I have right now.
I only noticed this a few days ago when Fr3d posted a screenshot of his device manager in IRC, and his showed an “-HC” model, whereas mine didn’t. So, I looked around a bit, and mine is indeed the wrong one.
So, since dad had placed the order I got him to email the guy, Mark, at MCS, and check, and I was indeed correct, it’s the wrong one. So, after a couple of emails, a courier is coming next week with an actual -HC, and at the same time pick up the box with mine in it (so I’ll be without a monitor for half an hour).
Overall, very good service on behalf of MCS, so, I would highly recommend them. It was also pretty good value, even though it’s a refurb, the 2407WFP that I have now basically arrived brand new, the only sign of use was a tiny scratch on the left (and I mean tiny), but for the sake of saving over £100 off the retail price, who cares?

You are very lucky that you managed to find a great bargain and great service and support from one place.
Your actually better off sticking with the 2407-A04. It took me ages to find a brand new 2407-A04, even tho the 2407-HC and the 2408 was out at the time. Whist the A04 doesn’t have HDMI, it doesn’t have the nasty defects of the newer models.
The HC version has horrible HORRIBLE inverse ghosting (youtube it) that seriously put me off and the 2408 has nasty input lag, again youtube it.
I’ll take my chances. I’ve heard both good things and bad things, so, hopefully, it’ll be a good thing.
Yes this is true, every product has it’s downsides and complaints. If you listened to it all you’d never buy anything
Even if you do have the bad defects you can just get it replaced again. Don’t these come with the default Dell monitor warranty?
Comes with a 3 year warranty, I’m not sure if it’s Dell’s or MCS’s warranty though.
@ William: It is a Dell warranty, you phone Dell and its them who deal with the request and provide replacements, you will have to ask MCS for an order number; but Mark should provide it easy enough.
@DrCheese: I am in the same situation as William, and I have heard and seen the problems with the HC model. I am annoyed that I didn’t get a product I paid for, but I am very happy with it and at the end of the day; if it aint broke don’t fix it!
I’ve compared both the 2007WFP with S-IPS Panel, 2407WFP and 2407WFP-HC and to be honest only real difference I can see is the size
I guess it must just be my poor eyesight
Again, another site recommended by me.
You must never have money after talking to me!
You’re bad for me. Go away!
Update: New HC arrived today, so far so good. Haven’t seen any ghosting issues so far, in a movie I watched. Not tried with games yet though.
I bought a refurb dell off MCS. It came heavily scratched with not even a power cord. Inside the computer 3 wires were loose and on starting the computer i was greeted with a series of beeps which translated into memory problems (memory turned out to be faulty). MCS would only offer refund with a 20% restocking fee. All in all, terrible.
